The East Sussex School Of Circus (ESSCA) held its first Civic Day on Tuesday 27thSeptember 2022 at Hailsham.
It was a proud moment for everyone ‘to see how far we have come with a clear vision for the future and beyond.‘
Trustees and guests, including Paul Holbrook, The Hailsham Mayor, Christine Ewbank from The Eastbourne Unltd Chamber of Commerce, Rachel Gunn from East Sussex County Council and Jay Brewerton an Independent Councilor from Bexhill attended our Civic Day and were given a tour of the premises along with a presentation by the school’s Principal, Renato Pires.
Our Vision For The Future –
In the past 30 years the role of circus education has changed with the focus now being on the physical and mental wellbeing of students. At ESSCA this is the exact focus of our programs following in-step with the trends of circus schools throughout Europe, USA and Canada. Our goal is to become the first circus university in East Sussex.
Currently there is no circus school that offers a degree within East Sussex. We are proud to be working with Brighton Academy of Performing Arts (TBA) to become partners next year to deliver a degree. This will provide educational tourism, bringing students from outer areas to Hailsham as well as boosting the educational and tourist economy.
We currently offer Free training courses for individuals aged 16 to 24 not in education or training and afternoon classes for any age. We can’t wait to see our students final graduation on 24th of November and look forward to welcoming any new applicants in the following months.
